Unit: This unit looks at the use of of rhyme to develop knowledge of spelling patterns. The development of recognition of rhyming spelling patterns is one of the most important skills in a student's education in phonics for spelling. Opportunities for generating rhyming strings should be provided as often saas possible. This unit links well with all phonics work and can be used to introduce or reinforce the rhyming skills.
