Many words sound alike:

Cat, hat, sat, mat

Book, look, took

You can hear that these words sound the same as the words beside them. You can also see that they LOOK alike as well.

They share a spelling string: "-at" "-ook".

We can use this to help us spell new words.

If we know how to spell "dog", and we want to spell "log", we can use that "-og" spelling to help us get it right.

Rhymes are lots of fun, but they are very useful too!
