It is taken from the National Literacy Strategy objectives for Reception Year. Almost all children will require adult assistance in readig the instructions, and so the activities lend themselves to shared or guided time within the Literacy Hour.
The module provides practice with simple CVC rhyming spelling patterns and can be used to reinforce work on phonics, although it does stand alone.
Following this module, children should be reminded and encouraged to use these skills within their text-level work, especially in shared or guided text-level work.
