Key Words

 

beach: the strip of land next to the sea. It can be sand, shingle or pebbles.

cliffs: steep drop in the land as it meets the sea

rock pool: area of the beach near to the rocks where water remains at low tide

sand dunes: sandy hills at the edge of the beach.

pier: man made structure jutting out into the sea to give access to boats

lighthouse: building with strong light which warns people in boats about nearby rocks.

hotel: a place where people can pay to stay.
