At the end of this module you will:

  • identify which solutions are acidic

 

  • be able to recognise that solutions with lower pH values will be more corrosive

 

  • be able to identify burning of fossil fuels, eg in vehicles, and volcanic activity as leading to acids in the environment

 

  • be able to represent, eg by drawing flow diagrams or equations, a sequence of reactions in which acid rain is formed
